Great discussion. I definitely find peace when playing older games or using retro mods on newer games. I’ve slowly drifted away from online modes. MyCareer stopped around 2k18 or 19. MyTeam was more recently with 2k23. The 2k10 1997 mod is incredible. Every once in a while I find myself loading it up to play a match or two and just enjoy the attention to detail. I know just a little bit from experience how much time, modding/art skills, and especially passion has to go into putting together even a single season roster. Burnout is always a risk if your head isn’t fully in it. The idea of releasing an unfinished (WIP) mod is always interesting. Obviously prefacing this by saying I have no problem with it seeing as I’ve been releasing updates to 2k20 for almost 5 years. A forever WIP project. It is a shame when you see projects go unfinished. I wonder how you two feel about the ethics of someone picking up an abandoned project and finishing it. I’ve seen people use versions of my rosters mods as a base for their project (whether in 2k20 or copying over to 2k21 and beyond), which I’m not mad at all.

NBA2k14 is by far the GOAT. I can't stop playing the Maxubex 2024 Roster with 96 Bulls 95 Knicks 95 MAGIC 10 LAKERS which NO 2k has EVER included! 96 SONICS! etc! So much fire!

I love that so many of us are drawn to classic rosters right now, whether via mods or the included retro content in NBA 2K. That being said, I'm glad to see NBA 2K11 PC being updated for the 2024 season as well, especially since my own attempts to update the game unfortunately fell through. Keep the classics alive, and keep the awesome highlights coming, everyone!

There’s no way in hell you could take old time players, given them all the modern technology including recovery, cushioned sneakers/orthotic insoles, medical/surgical breakthroughs, travel, etc and have them not be exponentially better. In contrast, there’s no way you could take a modem player, make him play in Chuck Taylors, ride trains to games, have primitive training/recovery/medical practice and have them not be exponentially worse. The fact that modern fans refer to the old legends that paved the way as ‘plumbers’ is saddening and maddening.

Question on #3... How did they get the Playoffs logo on the court for NBA 2K16? I thought the last year for that was NBA 2K15.

I think some of what has fueled the faulty idea that all bigs back in the day were lumbering and unathletic are the poor representation in 2k’s classic teams. Go back to the 70s/80s/90s classic teams and see how many bigs (and even some SFs!) have speed and acceleration ratings in the 30s or less. I had to re-educate myself on so many of those players and adjust ratings. So many people including myself were first introduced to many of those players through 2k’s classic teams.

I've recently installed the patch that added all rookies for the 98-99 season. It seems there is a graphics error with all rookies' faces and they are not visible. I can't figure out what the problem is.

This whole time I thought it was random gibberish like "Burt der der der derdomo". Turns out it's "Back, it's the incredible".
